We all need a little inspiration every now and then, right? As part of my Summer Challenge, this week I am re-organizing and repainting my kitchen! Last night I had insomnia. So I only managed to snag about 4 hours of sleep – I need some major inspiration to get excited about a job that seems daunting.
Here’s some of what I found:
Organizing the fridge. I actually cleaned out and re-organized my fridge a couple of weeks ago. iHeart Organizing has a lot really great ideas for organizing the whole kitchen!
Pantry organization from Better Homes and Gardens, plus free printable labels!
Chalkboard paint inside the cupboard! How handy is that?
Magnetic paint!! Jen painted the inside of her spice cupboard with the magnetic paint, then painted over that with her cupboard paint color and used magnetic spice tins. Sooo clever.
I have a tiny kitchen. Our house was built in 1950 and does not have an open floor plan. Despite my small kitchen and very large family, I love the vintage style of my kitchen. Unfortunately, the cupboards are packed way too full at this point, so I am hoping to purge a lot of stuff this week!
Also, a few years ago I had painted the kitchen to update it from its circa 1970’s decor (orange, brown, and yellow wallpaper). It never occurred to me that the previous owners would have used oil based paint.
You can cry with me.
Latex over oil doesn’t stick.
Imagine my horror and disappointment and defeated spirit when all my hours/ weeks of hard work started peeling off the walls and cupboards!
Now, several years later I have gathered my strength and bought adhesion primer. I am redoing the kitchen. I am hoping and praying this redo goes faster than the first time. Except this time I have to do the primer and then the paint. I guess that means its possible it might take twice as long.
I’m not going to think about that.
I have a lot to do. Now to go do it. What are you working on this week?
