From Chaos to Calm: Day 54

Scripture Memory: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

Mom, you really are special! Your children adore you no matter how you look, whether you are grouchy one day or loving the next. They accept you as you are.

If you are doing anything you know you shouldn’t be doing, today I want you to offer it up in prayer to God. You have the power to teach, encourage, and direct your children as they grow. No one has as much influence as you do. And your children are watching.

Bad habits are just that – BAD HABITS. We have talked a lot about self-discipline over the course of this study. As you grow in your walk with Christ and follow His leading toward being the woman He created you to be, ask for forgiveness and for victory over the sins in your life.

Whether you can’t seem to give up smoking, or four letter words fly out of your mouth when you are frustrated, or you just hate the life you have been given, Jesus can take the sin away. You can claim victory over it!

If you want your children to grow up to follow Jesus, you are to set the example for them. I am not saying that you are to be perfect. We ALL make mistakes. I am talking about sins that are a regular part of your life – habits that push you away from instead of toward God.

Make a list of things you know you need to change. Start the list with the BIG things like smoking, drinking, or even bitterness. Place the list inside your Bible and each morning as you go to God to receive that blessed Manna, seek out HIS strength, ask for courage, for discipline, and for victory. If you need help, ask your husband or a friend to encourage you and to keep you accountable.

Remember that every decision that you make will potentially affect the choices your family – your children – make in the years to come. Be an effective witness for Jesus and do what you know is right.

  1. My children are 12 and 14 yeasts old and neither have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I feel like I have failed. I talk to them about it but it doesn't phase them. I'm so sadden by this. I go to a Spanish church because of my husband but my kids really don't understand. Help me pray that God gives me wisdom with this situation.
  2. Thank you so much. This is refreshing to my morning. I think we mothers need to be reminded of this. I needed this!
  3. Thank you so much for this! There is a lot I need to let go of and change and I needed to hear these words tonight. Thank you!
