Yesterday I talked about how our family has been saving Box Tops for our local elementary school for years. And about how it’s the little things that really add up to make a big difference. Box Tops for Education is like free money for your school! Don’t throw them out!

Maybe you’ve been collecting Box Tops for years like us, or maybe you’re just getting started. Why not encourage other people in your community to get on board, too?

We do a lot of our shopping at Wal-Mart. We live a small town and I’m so thankful to have a Wal-Mart just three miles from my house. Right now, you can find Bonus Box Tops on select products at Wal-Mart. You can get 5 Box Tops on a single box of the Family Size Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a lot of other participating General Mills products – only at Wal-Mart.

Which means you need to get the word out at your school and encourage parents to pick up these products while they’re out shopping!

My kids love these. I usually make a double or triple batch. I’ve even taken them on a picnic. They were gobbled up. You can’t go wrong with these.

I’m just saying.

This is also a great recipe to let your kids help you make if they are old enough to stir a pot on the stove.

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups Cinnamon Toast Crunch
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup real butter

Directions

You start by adding the marshmallows and the butter to a large pot and set it on medium low. You don’t want to burn the mixture as it melts so stir continuously. You do want to use real butter. Margarine – especially light margarine is just not good. There’s too much water in margarine. Trust me. I learned the hard way.

Once the marshmallows have melted, remove from heat, add the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal and stir to combine.

Pour the sticky mixture into a greased casserole dish and lightly press it evenly across the dish.

Let the treats thoroughly cool before cutting into squares. For the Box Tops Bake Sale you can individually wrap these in plastic wrap or in a zip top baggie. Price these treats and other goodies just like you would at any other bake sale. Only this time, your prices will look something like this:

  • $0.50 = 5 Box Tops
  • $1.00 = 10 Box Tops
  • $1.50 = 15 Box Tops
  • $2.00 = 20 Box Tops

Let me know how you like this recipe and if your school adds a Box Tops Bake Sale to their fall fundraiser lineup!
