This is My Life Planner

So, I know a lot of you have already purchased your own digital copy of “This is My Life” planner. Are you getting excited about using it this coming year? I know I am! I’ve been using a planner or “household notebook” for years now.

Here’s a few of my posts on the Household Notebook over the years:

When I created This is My Life Planner I had some “must-haves” that I knew I wanted in a planner.

  1. Undated. Instead, the planner uses a weekly format.
  2. Pretty, with bright {cheerful} colors and awesome fonts.
  3. Daily Chores to check off.
  4. Weekly chore lists that rotate every five weeks.
  5. A place to write my weekly reminders.
  6. Weekly menu planning.
  7. A way to organize all of my holidays and plan ahead.

Of course, I included much more! But those were the elements that were most important to me.

Really, there’s three ways to print and bind your planner.

  1. Print onto paper or card stock {will be much thicker} and use a 3-hole punch to add the pages to a 3 ring binder.
  2. Print and take the planner to your favorite office supply store {i.e. Office Depot or Staples} and have them add a white coil binding and clear plastic cover to the front and back for durability.
  3. Or, when printing, select 2 pages per sheet, print even pages first and then odd pages. You can then cut the pages in half with a paper cutter and either have them bound at your office supply store or use a 5.5 x 8.5 hole punch and place in a 5.5 x 8.5 binder.

So, I wanted to walk you through how I am using my “This is My Life” Planner and how you can use it.

How to Use the “This is My Life” Planner

I printed the “This is My Life” 52 Week Planner onto card stock {110 lb.}. If you print onto card stock, you need to realize your planner will be quite a bit thicker than if you use regular 20 lb. copy paper. I didn’t mind this. 28 lb. paper would also work nicely.

I purchased a few inexpensive tools to use along with my planner.

  1. George brand 4 x 6 Wristlet Wallet. {from Wal-Mart}
  2. Post It Note Tabs
  3. Washi Tape
  4. Sticko Stickers
  5. Pentel R.S.V.P. Pens
  6. Post It Note Binder Tabs
  7. Flags
  8. Post It Note Graph Paper Pads

You’ll notice that I designed the planner so that when you open the current week {or which ever week you’re looking at, you have both the weekly planner and the weekly menu facing each other so that you can easily plan for the week without having to flip back and forth between pages. Sweet, right?

And of course, colorful pens are always fun to use. However, I utilize a pencil for those things I want to keep note of that might change. I also keep a set of colorful flags for marking important notes.

I use the Post It Note Graph Paper pad for making my weekly shopping list. This makes it easy to plan my menu, decide what I need to buy and easily take the list with me.

The stickers make it fun. Who doesn’t like stickers?

I have a black briefcase or bag {whichever you like to call it} that I take with me everywhere. Inside my bag, I carry my This is My Life Calendar and my Blog Planner, my Samsung Tablet as well as my wallet, and other essentials for when I’m out.

To organize my planner goodies, I purchased this sweet little wristlet wallet from Wal-Mart. It’s just big enough to hold all of my planner essentials.

  1. Have mine printed and in my binder I had in the house and started it on Sunday. I have lots of things to use to mark my planner as I am a scrap booker.
    1. Laura, Thank you for the sweet words! the planner is available here: http://avirtuouswoman.org/store/#!/~/category/id=8318058&offset=0&sort=normal I hope you enjoy it! God bless and Happy New Year!
      1. Thank you so much Melissa! You did a great job in putting it together!! :) Happy New Year to you as well and God bless!
  2. I'm curious, are some of the areas able to edited/changed? And I see there is a weekly plan and menu plan but if we want calendar pages that is an add on right? I'm trying to find a way to have everything all together in one place!;)
  3. One more question?;) I'd like to print this at staples, will be much better quality vs at home. Should I print it double sided or does it print one page per page? I do want it to line up, open up properly?
    1. Aubrey, I suggest that you print the EVEN pages first and then the ODD pages. I believe that if you have a printer like Staples do it they will know how. Tell them you want both sides of the pages printed on like a book. That way when you open the planner, the weekly pages will face each other properly. Let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks!
  4. Hey there, I printed of my whole binder and was wondering the order that one would put.them in? Thanks I love the planner
    1. Denielle, {repost from your other comment} I personally have the Weekly planner and the holiday planner combined in a spiral bound notebook – I printed it onto card stock and took it to Office Depot and they bound it for me for around $5.00. My budget planner, project life planner and Kitchen planner are in two different 3 ring binders. I did it this way because I can grab my weekly planner and take it with me easily. The other planners don’t usually leave home. You can see a video of my planner here: http://avirtuouswoman.org/2014/02/18/how-using-a-planner-reduces-stress-day-23/ I hope you are blessed by the planner - so glad you love it!
  5. That's a great idea! I've always hunted around for nice journals/ planners but I never find one that suited my needs + the design that I like + in the size that I like. I guess you could tell that I'm very particular. On the other hand, I've tried half a dozen of electronic to-do lists/ reminders but they do not motivate me either. It's never dawned upon me to make my own! Your design is inspiring. Thank you!
  6. Just curious - what software did you use to create your planner ?? I am thinking about buying one but also might add some extra pages that pertain to me but I'm not sure what to use to make them. It doesn't look like you used Microsoft Word. Is that something you can share ??
