The holidays are fast approaching… let’s get our homes clean now so that when the candles are lit and the tables are set, we can all breathe easier! My free printable holiday cleaning checklist will help you do just that!

Over the last couple of weeks my girls and I have tackled nearly the whole house and gotten it ready for the holidays. I would like to say that just the idea of a clean house is always enough motivation for me to get busy and deep clean.

But, alas, that’s not always the case.

However, the idea that guests will be coming to visit our home and even spending the night is generally all the motivation I need to really get cleaning! If that’s true for you, too, go ahead and invite some people over!

Hospitality is a way for us as Christian women to share God’s love with others in a very basic way. Hospitality is a ministry to not only friends and strangers, but also your family.

Romans 12:13 tells us, “Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.”

Hospitality doesn’t mean having a perfect, showcase home. Certainly you can show hospitality whether your home is neat or not. However, I believe that when we clean our homes to create a neat and tidy space that we are providing a ministry to all who enter.

Homemaking is much more noble than simply scrubbing floors and toilets. Homemaking ministers to the weary soul. Our friends and family can rest easier and feel much more at peace in a neat space. That doesn’t mean every piece of clutter needs to disappear or that we need to stress and worry over every crumb that spills from the table.

But we can strive for a home that is pleasing to eye and restful to the soul.
