Have you ever walked into your homeschool room and thought, what a mess? I’ve been homeschooling my kids since 1998 and I can honestly say that keeping out school stuff neat and organized is a real challenge. I’m not sure I will ever have a perfectly organized homeschooling space, but there are a few tricks to keeping all those supplies organized – at least somewhat.

Getting Organized While Homeschooling

You don’t need to stay unorganized as a homeschooling parent! So, today I’m sharing some ways in which you can get organized and stay organized, while homeschooling.

Get super creative with your space

I don’t know about you, but we do not have unlimited homeschooling space. In fact, we need to get creative with the space that’s available in our home. We don’t have a whole room dedicated to homeschooling.

Label everything you can

You can call me the label queen – that is more than okay. When it comes to staying organized while homeschooling, I label as much as I can. I like to label folders to help keep my kids on task. I also like to label drawers to help us find things a lot easier and to make cleanup a breeze! I love my Brother Label Maker.

Write lesson plans

Well, you don’t have to write out full lesson plans. You can just consider this a way to stay organized. By writing out lesson plans, you can stay organized throughout the week. This allows me to pull out what I need each day, it’s very helpful. Even if I’m not in the mood to teach, at least I know I have something lined up. Of course, every day will look different, even when you do have plans.

Learning boxes

Learning boxes or work boxes work great -especially for your younger children. You put all the schoolwork you have for your kids (for that day) inside of the box. Your kids are then able to see what school work they have. This helps you to stay organized and keep your sanity. And it’s a lot easier for your child to be independent with his school work.

Use Mason jars to organize the small items

The best thing about being organized is you can be as creative as you want. I have been known to throw out items because I am just over trying to keep things organized. I love using mason jars to organize things like pencils, markers, paper clips, and so much more! You can also easily store mason jars anywhere in the home. This might be tough with little ones around though. Just make sure your children won’t break the glass!

Getting organized while homeschooling can be freeing. Now all you need to do is find what works for you. There are a million and one ways to get organized while homeschooling, just find what works for you!
