Goals for October

Whew! The last few weeks have been a whirlwind.

I think I’ve only been home four or five days in the last month. Seriously. It’s been crazy. Between my husband and I we drove nearly 10,000 miles in the last month. Yikes!

And even when I’m home, it often seems like I’m not really home. But that’s okay. We’re living a crazy, happy, life of small adventures. And right now, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Well. Maybe a few things. But all in all, things are good.

And, this past month we had a wedding!! My sweet Sarah married Ethan on the 24th of September, I can’t wait to share more photos with you, but here’s one of my favorites. It’s the “sibling photo.”

Sarah was a beautiful bride and the wedding was absolutely perfect! I’ll share more about that soon.

Setting Goals

I’ve been wanting to share my monthly goals with you on a regular basis for quite some time now. I just haven’t gotten around to it. So today’s the day. I’m a little late – it’s already the 9th of October. But better late than never.

As for setting personal goals – these days I don’t set as many goals as I have in the past. I want to be realistic and in all honesty, we’re so busy I don’t have time for much! But I do have a few goals I’m working on.

Faith

#1 I recently began learning more about Bible Journaling. I know the idea has been around for a while, but I’ve been looking for a way to inspire deeper study. I’m not an amazing artist. I can draw so-so and I have a decent eye for color, but the thought of drawing in my Bible is a little intimidating. I few weeks ago I went ahead and purchased a new journaling Bible and have yet to actual start coloring in it! But I’m ready. I’ll share updates with you soon, I hope!

Here are a few things I’ve purchased to get started:

Homemaking

#2 I’m slowly working on decluttering my home. This is such a long and sometimes painful process. If you’ve been following along in my 30 Day Challenge: A Time to Clean, maybe you’ve been decluttering too! We’ve been gone so much over the last few weeks I haven’t gotten as much done as I had hoped, but I will press on!

Decluttering can be very therapeutic and it really does set you free!

Motherhood

So, my goals for motherhood don’t often change. I want to be the most amazing mom I can be. I love being a mom. The last couple of months I’ve had to learn to let go more than once and I won’t lie – it can feel terrifying.

I’ve never been overly protective. I’m certainly not a helicopter mom – I let my kids make mistakes and I even let them make their own choices when I don’t agree with them from time to time. But the last two months I’ve had a daughter leave for college, another get married, and I’ve faced the fact that my youngest two are definitely growing up.

As for my goals for this month – get the girls on a set schedule where they are waking up early every morning. We tend to sleep in a little later on Mondays and Tuesdays and it would be better if we all got up early every day of the week.

#3 I’m working on being a better photographer. What does that have to do with motherhood? Well, Laura is working super hard on becoming a well known YouTuber and she’s been learning to edit her videos in Adobe Premiere. It’s not easy. And since I am the “camera guy” I am working to take better videos. Together we make a pretty good team and I think that by the end of the year we’ll see a huge improvement in our videos.

Today we moved our horses to a new stable – it’s a dream come true in so many ways. We’re all so excited!!! But, it’s an hour commute from our house which means I’ll be spending even more time in the car with the girls. So that’s going to take some adjustment and getting used to.

Hannah is doing really well in her figure skating and I will continue to provide as much support and encouragement as possible on this end. She’s landing her Axel Jump consistently now and working toward testing soon in Freestyle 5, Preliminary Moves, Pre-Preliminary Freeskate, and Dance 3.

#4 We’ve been so busy and our schedule is so crazy that finding time for family worship during the week is tough. I tend to slack on that when we are out of town each week and one of my goals is to take time each afternoon with the girls to read the Bible – I’m even considering getting them their own journaling Bibles so we can journal together!

Marriage

#5 Marriage is where I struggle more. Being a patient mom seems so easy to me. Being a patient wife – not so much. And I’ve really been struggling with this lately.

Health

#6 I’d like to lose another ten pounds or so. I’ve been slowly, but steadily losing weight over the last year. I have dropped down from a size 12 to a size 6 and it feels really good. But, I still have some extra weight around my middle that bothers me. So, I’m continuing to eat healthy meals and I try really hard not to go back for seconds.

#7 I don’t necessarily exercise every day, but I do try to be active as much as possible. This month, as the weather cools down, I want to spend more time taking walks with the girls and visiting the park.

Business & Blogging

The last few months I’ve gotten in a pretty good schedule of working on Mondays and Tuesdays and leaving the rest of the week for other activities. I will continue with that schedule as much as possible.

#8 One of the big goals for this month is to get all of the printed planners I sold last month in the mail and shipped.

#9 And finally, I need to get into a better schedule of emailing my subscribers – when I’m super busy {like always} I tend to put this off and that’s not good!

So, those are my goals for October. What are you working on?
