Every year I make much the same special treats at Christmas time. Oreo Truffles top the list as one of the favorites among all of my family members. Right up there with Christmas classics like Date Balls and Cheese Crackers.

Plus, they are so easy to make, even my ten year old can do it! Which really pays off when you’re cooking for 20 – 25 people for a whole week. And I guarantee you’ll want to make a double or triple batch!

Oreo Truffles

  • 1 package regular Oreo cookies
  • 1 8 oz. package cream cheese
  • 1 package white almond bark

Add Oreo cookies to the bowl of your food processor and process until fine crumbs. Add the block of cream cheese and process until the mixture is well combined – you don’t want to see chunks of cream cheese in there.

Use a spoon to scoop out tablespoon portions and roll into a ball. {You can make them 1/2″ to 1″ in size.} Place balls on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. When you’ve filled the cookie sheet, place the sheet into the freezer and freeze for a 2 – 4 hours {or even overnight}.

Once the balls are frozen, break up the block of almond bark and put the bark into the top part of a double boiler, adding water to the bottom pot. If you don’t have a double boiler, you can use a Pyrex glass dish on top of a small pot with about an inch of water. Bring water up to a good simmer and allow almond bark to gently melt.

Remove Oreo balls from freezer, using a fork, drop one ball at a time, working quickly, and coat in melted almond bark. Use fork to gently roll the ball in the bark and pick up ball, setting it onto the wax paper to harden. You want to do this gently and quickly so you don’t get crumbs of Oreo into the white almond bark.

Allow almond bark to harden. Serve.

Keep covered in a container when not serving or cover platter/bowl with plastic wrap to preserve freshness.

Believe me, these are incredibly good!

P.S. These are perfect for bake sales! I use the snack size zip top bags and add two larger size truffles to the bag and we sell them for $1.00 a bag.
