From Chaos to Calm: Day 69

Scripture Memory: “What prayer and supplication so ever be made by any man … Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men; That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.” 1 Kings 8: 38-40

Laundry is one of those tasks that never goes away, piles up in a hurry, and for a lot of women is just plain drudgery. How often have you grumbled about having to wash and fold umpteen tons of laundry everyday?

I figure that in any given year I must wash (and fold) 500— 600 loads of laundry. That’s a lot of laundry. Of course, the bigger the family, the more laundry there is to fold.

Would you trade your family in for not having to ever do laundry again? I don’t think so! Is doing laundry really a sacrifice? Maybe a little. It’s a sacrifice of your time, but in this day and age, washing machines have taken away the back breaking labor that once was laundry day.

Are our families worth a little sacrifice of our time? I think so!

If you are willing to die for your children, in the scheme of things, how important is laundry really? Instead of grumbling and feeling frustrated when it comes time each day to wash, dry, fold, and put away the laundry, why not spend that time praising God for each of the blessings in your life?

Folding a load of laundry still warm from the dryer, or even fresh off the clothesline only take 5 – 10 minutes. But that is 5 – 10 minutes of time your can spend praising God and remembering your precious loved ones in prayer!

  1. for year i have been thinking like that! (not always successfully!!) i am reminded of the Amish finding love and joy in their simple everyday tasks they do for their families. you are right Melissa, we have to do it anyway. i would much rather count my blessings while doing it. Imagine all those parents that no longer have their little ones things to fold! my prayers go to them as well. Terry B
