I love my kitchen. We renovated our house over a two-year period and the kitchen was the first room to get a make-over. I’m a happier wife and mom when my kitchen is clean. I love walking into the kitchen when it’s time to prepare the next meal and finding the kitchen tidy.

I like having space to work and prep and cook food for my family without having to clean up or move clutter out of the way. It’s just more enjoyable that way.

I spend so much time in the kitchen preparing meals for my family. I want the time I’m working in the kitchen to be useful and not frustrating.

So how do you keep your kitchen counters clutter-free? Here are some tips:

If your kitchen counters are anything like mine, they tend to collect clutter pretty quickly. But with just a few simple changes, you can keep your counters clean and organized.

#1 One way to do this is to clear off the counters at the end of each day. This gives you a fresh start each morning, and it helps to prevent build-up. It only takes a few minutes!

#2 Another way to keep your counters clean is to designate a place for each item. For example, have a designated spot (such as a basket) for keys, mail, and other items that tend to accumulate on the countertop. Train your family not to set things down on the counter.

#3 Don’t be afraid to get rid of things that you don’t use or need. If you don’t love it or use it, get rid of it!

For instance, I am not a gadget person. I like my basics – a good knife, a cutting board, a food processor, and a mixer. There’s a few other appliances I use from time to time, but for the most part I don’t don’t want a lot of gadgets cluttering my kitchen. It’s okay to give away what you don’t use.

#4 Put away gadgets and appliances when you’re not using them. If they’re not in use, they don’t need to be on the countertops. Store them in cabinets or drawers instead. Doing this will give you more counter space and make your kitchen look more organized.

#5 Clean up after every meal. This includes wiping down the counters, washing dishes, and putting things away. If you have a dishwasher, load it up right after dinner so that you’re not left with a sink full of dirty dishes.
