This is one of those recipes that is so simple to put together, it’s destined to become a staple in your house. I make these almonds for birthday parties, holiday get-togethers, Super Bowl parties, and even for a snack on the trail. I’ll warn you, these nuts can be addictive! It’s impossible for me to eat just one. Thankfully, almonds are very good for you!

My kids love spicy foods, so these are no problem for them. If you you’d like a milder version, just add less cayenne powder to the sugar mixture.

Sweet and Spicy Almonds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread almonds on a baking sheet and toast until nuts begin to turn golden, about 10 minutes. Watch carefully because nuts can burn quickly!

In a mixing bowl, stir together the sugar, salt, and cayenne pepper. Set aside.

Stir together the water, honey, and oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once mixture starts to bubble, stir in toasted almonds mixing to coat.

Pour almonds into sugar mixture and toss together. Cool and serve.

Tip: These almonds would make a lovely gift – just place in a mason jar, top with a lid and a ribbon.

  1. Hi ... You mention stiring together water, honey & oil in a skillet but I don't see water in the ingredients so I don't know how much to use. Thanks for the recipe! Looking forward to making them
