Proverbs 31 Prayer Challenge: Day 2

This 21 Day Proverbs 31 Prayer Challenge is based on my post: Praying through Proverbs 31.

Today’s prayer challenge: Proverbs 31:11

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father,

The heart of her husband trusts in her and he will have no lack of gain or no need of spoil. Lord let me be a trustworthy wife to my husband and a faithful bride to You. (Revelation 19:7-9)

Help me to be a woman that can be trusted. I want my husband to be able to depend on me. I don’t want to add to his worry and stress. As I become the woman you would have me to be, help me to be a trustworthy helpmeet to my husband.

Amen.

Trust in Marriage

In a healthy marriage, the husband and wife act as a team. They have common goals and work together to reach those goals. Trust in marriage is so important!

Building a life together and work toward goals requires two things:

  • teamwork
  • trust

In the book, The Five Disunctions of a Team, author Patrick Lancioni shares 5 layers which represent the growth of a team and how they function. This book isn’t a marriage book, but I think the idea can be used as a marriage principle when we think of you and your husband as a team.

When trust is lacking in a relationship it leads to all sorts of problems.

  1. lack of trust which leads to…
  2. a fear or conflict which leads to…
  3. lack of commitment which leads to…
  4. avoidance of responsibilities which leads to…
  5. failure to focus on team results (goals)

It’s so important to the overall health of your marriage that you be someone your husband can trust. I know you want to build trust in your marriage!

trust is defined as: firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

She is trustworthy.

As a Christian wife, you want to be the kind of woman your husband trusts without question. If you are a trustworthy wife, your husband has faith that you will hold to your commitments.

Your commitment to your home.

As a trustworthy wife, you manage your home well. Just like the Proverbs 31 woman, you see to it that your household tasks get done – whether that means delegating, hiring out help, or creating a cleaning routine. You don’t have to do everything yourself, but you recognize that homemaking is ministry and you take care to create a space that is warm and comforting.

Your commitment to love.

As a trustworthy wife, your husband doesn’t need to worry that when he comes home he’ll be greeted with a critical spirit and harsh words.
