As a homemaker, part of my homemaking ministry is serving my family delicious treats, homecooked meals, and even homemade bread. Those are things I enjoy doing for my family. Having a quality mixer to use when baking is such a blessing!

For years I made most of the bread we ate from scratch. These days I don’t have as much time to do that, but it’s something I love! And I still bake bread when I have time. I am sure I will once again enjoy baking bread when life settles down in a few years as my last two girls leave home.

I personally own the professional KitchenAid Mixer and it has lasted for years and years. It’s one of the best investments we’ve made in our kitchen. I love it! It’s easy to care for and it’s durable. The KitchenAid Artisan Mixers are a good choice too.

How to Clean Your KitchenAid Mixer

A KitchenAid mixer is one of those kitchen tools like a quality cast iron pan that can be passed on for generations. With the proper care, a KitchenAid mixer can last forever with their powerhouse motors and quality design made to last. With proper care, you will never need another mixer and your investment or the investment of the person that passed their mixer onto you will be protected.

After Each Use

After each use of your stand mixer give it a good scrub down with soap and water.  Close the upper attachment cap securing it if you used an attachment. Remove all splatters and pay close attention to the springs where the attachments hook. This will prevent splatters from drying out where your attachments connect making it hard to clean or preventing your attachments from connecting to your KitchenAid mixer.

Cleaning the Attachments

Washing and caring for your attachments is vital to making them last as long as the machine itself. Attachments that are uncoated need the most attention. Hand washing and towel drying will protect them from damage and keep them in good shape. Adding a thin rubbing of oil to exposed hooks can help keep them from tarnishing and protect them from damage. Should your attachments become damaged or coated in much from sitting long term soak them in vinegar and bring to a simmer them wipe away any oxidation or dried on the muck. Always hand dry attachments after cleaning.

Make It Shine

Use an old toothbrush to clean away anything stuck in grooves and crevices. This will prevent food from being left behind and forming mold on your favorite kitchen mixer. This can be done every couple of weeks if your mixer is used regularly or right before putting your mixer away if you do not intend to use it for a while.

Use a stainless steel cleaner to clean the outside of your bowl and buff any chrome on your KitchenAid mixer. This will keep it looking great and get rid of any fingerprints and water spots left behind from cleaning. Use a microfiber cloth to buff and shine the entire mixer to give it a smooth markless finish. This is important if you like to leave your mixer on display in your kitchen.

Caring for the Cord

Be sure to wipe down the cord regularly removing food and dust from the cord and making sure there is nothing in the prongs. Use a cord wrap or a fun piece or ribbon to tie your mixer’s cord up keeping it off the counter and away from spills and accidents that can lead to a damaged cord.

Oiling the Gears

If your stand mixer started to make an unusual noise it may be in need of some oil to make it run smoothly again. This can be done easily at home by opening up your KitchenAid stand mixer and adding a small bit of grease available on the KitchenAid website to each of the gears. When doing this remember that a little goes a long way with grease and over greasing can lead to leaks.

Caring for your KitchenAid Mixer isn’t hard but care should be made to deep clean it on a regular basis and wipe it down after each use.
