Ever since I was a little girl, making salt dough ornaments were a Christmas tradition that I loved. This simple salt dough star ornament is so easy to make and easy enough for even young children to participate!

If you are using the ADVENTures in Prophecy printable advent calendar, this ornament is a perfect activity to use to illustrate the star of Bethlehem. Read Matthew 2:1-22 with your family and make the star ornaments.

If you haven’t already, be sure to download my Christmas ADVENTures in Prophecy scripture cards. Just fill out the form at the end of this post.

Roll out dough about 3/8” thick. Use a star cookie cutter or template to cut out the star ornaments.

Use a toothpick or straw to cut a hole in the top of the star to allow for a ribbon later. Allow star to dry. Paint star with a golden yellow or Ochre yellow paint. Allow paint to dry.

If desired, “paint” white glue onto ornament and cover with clear glitter. Star will then sparkle against the lights on the tree. Tie a ribbon for hanging.
