With summer just around the corner, so are backyard gatherings and picnics at the park. These simple black bean burgers are delicious, easy to prepare, and the perfect summer time fare!
This recipe was adapted from the Happy Herbivore’s recipe.
Simple Black Bean Burgers
- 15 ounces black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ⅓ cup instant oats
- 2 tbsp. flour
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease a baking sheet.
In a mixing bowl, mash black beans with a fork until mostly smashed. Stir in remaining ingredients until well combined. You want to divide the mixture into four equal patties. I like to brown my patties in a bit of oil for several minutes on both sides. Place on baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Serve with your favorite buns and condiments.
I typically double or triple this recipe for my big crowd of hungry people. And just so you know, these burgers freeze really well!
