Tidbits from My Week

I can’t believe I did this yesterday.

So, my husband called me and told me to come to the lawyers office he was at in a meeting. He wanted me to come get Laura’s birth certificate so we could go open a bank account for her. He said the birth certificate was sitting on the desk in the front room of the house. Anyway, he told me that the lawyer’s office was in the house next door to the post office.

So, I parked the truck and left the girls sitting there and walked across the street, opened up the gate, opened the screen door and said hello to the little dog, opened the door and the little dog followed me in. The house was real quiet. It definitely looked like a house instead of an office, but I figured maybe the lawyer lived and worked in the same space.

I looked around and didn’t see a desk or a birth certificate. I called Mykal’s name.

Silence.

Something didn’t feel right and I decided not to look around for him. I called the little dog and put him back on the porch and went back to the truck to wait.

Well. Apparently there’s a little house/ office kind of behind the house I went inside next to the post office.

I don’t know whose house I walked into followed by a little dog. I’m just so glad they didn’t catch me walking through their house!

On Monday, Laura had to have four baby teeth pulled. She’s getting ready to get braces and they won’t let her have braces until those baby teeth were gone. Poor thing. She was a real trooper, but it was pretty miserable the first few hours after the oral surgeon did his thing. Thankfully by supper time she wasn’t in much pain. Speaking of Laura, she just always amazes me.

I’ve mentioned before that she has a YouTube channel. She works so hard at providing quality content and interesting/ fun videos for her viewers. For her 14th birthday this year I gave her a very nice Heidi Swapp planner {at her request} so she can better plan out her videos and other tasks for her channel. She treats it like a business and she’s making real money now! Which is why we opened a new bank account for her.

This week we ordered her business cards. They turned out pretty nice!

Her videos are getting thousands of views and she has fans – girls write to her all the time and tell her how much she has inspired them and several girls have said their parents are letting them get a horse because of her videos! Here’s a screen shot of her channel. Look at those numbers! I know they will only get better.

She’s currently working on learning Adobe Premiere – and can I just say it’s not easy to learn – other YouTubers in her niche are constantly complimenting her editing skills and asking her how she does it.

She’s also working on starting her own blog and coming up with product ideas for an Etsy shop. She has the heart of an entrepreneur and has for years now.

She comes up with her own ideas and we film several videos a week. I usually do most of the camera work although sometimes she’s handle it by herself. And she does all the editing, music selection, social media, and marketing herself.

I’m sitting in our cold ice rink watching Hannah in stroking class this morning while writing this blog post. One of my favorite parts about blogging and working from home – aside from being able to do what I love everyday – is the fact that I can work from anywhere.

Hannah continues to work hard every week on her figure skating. She’s landed her Axel Jump and her sit spins are looking amazing. She gets so low now! Her coach was named Man of the Year by the ISI – Ice Skating Institute this summer and he has just transformed Hannah’s skating over the last year.

In other news, my daughter Sarah is gone for the next few weeks. This past weekend was the last weekend that I had all four of my girls at home at the same time before Sarah gets married. That realization was a little hard for me. The years have gone by so fast.

Emily is preparing to leave for college in a couple of weeks. I hate having to be gone from her side right now.

Just wish I could stop time.

When I started writing here at A Virtuous Woman, all my babies were still babies. They were ages 10 and younger. Now three of them are in their twenties and I have two teenagers. Where has the time gone?

The girls {Emily, Hannah, and Laura} and I took a short hike this past week and then went to the lake. It was a fun day, a new hike, and the lake was beautiful.

Last week the girls and I went to Breyerfest 2017 in Lexington, KY. I’ll share more about that in another post, but it was a lot of fun! The summer has gone by so fast and I feel like we haven’t done nearly as much as I had wanted to do with my kids. But, we have had some good, sweet times together.

What was your week like? Have you checked off all those summer bucket list items? Let me know in the comments below!
