How to Deepen Your Prayer Life + Printable Prayer Journal
This guide is designed specifically for busy moms, offering practical ides to help you deepen your prayer life without adding stress to your already packed schedule. Maintaining a strong prayer life is essential for spiritual growth, helping to anchor your day in peace and purpose.
When I was a young mom I knew I needed to have a closer connection with Jesus and one of the best ways I found to do that was to wake up early to read my Bible and pray.
Psalm 5:3 says: “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”
I found this to be the easiest way for me to get in my prayer and devotion time and I still believe it is good advice. But I know that there are seasons when waking up earlier than your family is difficult.

Being a mom is a full-time, round-the-clock job, often leaving little room for personal time, let alone quiet moments for prayer. And, with the constant demands of motherhood, finding time to connect with God can feel like an overwhelming task.
But what if there were ways to weave prayer into your daily life, even in the midst of chaos?
For most moms, setting aside a dedicated block of time for prayer can seem impossible. Between preparing meals, driving kids to endless activities, and keeping the household running, traditional prayer times may feel like a luxury you can’t afford. But prayer doesn’t have to be confined to a specific time or place.
How to Deepen Your Prayer Life
If there’s one thing I hope take away from this blog post it’s that you can pray anywhere at any time.
Integrate Prayer into Daily Tasks
One of the easiest ways to bring prayer into your life is by integrating it into routine activities. Pray while you’re cooking dinner, folding laundry, or driving to pick up the kids.
These moments, often filled with repetitive tasks, are perfect opportunities to connect with God. By turning these mundane tasks into moments of spiritual reflection, you transform your daily routine into a continuous conversation with God.
Pray with Your Children Present
It’s perfectly okay for you to pray and read your Bible with your children at your feet, at the table with you, or even sitting in your lap. There are no rules that say you must always pray while alone. In fact, I would even argue that your children seeing you read your Bible and talking to Jesus is a good thing!
It may be harder when your children are quite young – especially if they constantly interrupt you, but I would encourage you to gently train your children from a young age to respect you when you ask for moments of quiet. Teach them how to play quietly while you are busy in the same room with them. It’s a good skill for children to develop.
Set Specific Times
While spontaneous prayer is wonderful, setting aside brief, focused moments can also be incredibly beneficial. Consider dedicating the first five minutes of your morning or the last few moments before bed to prayer.
These times don’t have to be long or complicated; the key is consistency. A simple prayer journal or a prayer board where you and your children can jot down prayer requests can also turn prayer into a family activity, making it a natural and expected part of your daily life. You always have time to pray!
Praying with Scripture is a powerful way to make your prayers more meaningful and rooted in God’s word. This practice allows you to focus on specific promises or lessons from the Bible, bringing depth and direction to your prayers.
Finding a Prayer Partner or Group
While personal prayer is important, there’s something uniquely powerful about praying with others. A supportive prayer community can offer encouragement, accountability, and a sense of connection that strengthens your prayer life.
Connecting with other moms for prayer can be incredibly rewarding. Start by looking within your church, where prayer groups or Bible studies often provide a ready-made community. Online communities are another great option – in fact we have a new prayer group in our community you can join – offering flexibility and a wide range of perspectives.
Once you’ve found a prayer partner or group, it’s important to stay committed. Set a regular time to meet, whether in person or virtually, and make prayer together a priority.
Make Prayer a Priority
Finally, I just want to gently remind you that we all make time for the things that are important to us. Yes, you may be a busy wife, mom, woman with very little time to yourself. But my guess is that if you really took stock of how you spend your time, you’d find pockets here or there when you are doing other things like watching a show or picking up your phone to scroll. Or perhaps you have blocks of time when you’re sitting in the car waiting. Prayer time doesn’t have to look a certain way. When you decide prayer is going to be a priority, you’ll find a way.
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Incorporating prayer into your daily routine, using Scripture in your prayers, and connecting with a supportive community are all powerful ways to deepen your prayer life as a busy mom. These practices don’t require large amounts of time or effort—just a willingness to invite God into the everyday moments of your life.
No matter how hectic your schedule may be, it’s possible to find space for prayer. Start small, stay consistent, and remember that God is always ready to meet you where you are. Share your own prayer tips or join the conversation with other moms who are on the same journey.
