Memorizing Scripture helps you grow closer to God by hearing His voice every day through reading His Word. It also helps you to remember His promises!
As a Proverbs 31 woman, we want to develop a close relationship with our Father in Heaven. If you haven’t been memorizing scripture, you should begin doing so because it is life-changing!
Deuteronomy 6:6,7 says, “These words I am commanding you today are to be upon your hearts. And you shall teach them diligently to your children and speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
We have a responsibility to teach our children the Word of God. Memorizing scripture is important for our spiritual growth and it’s also just as important for our children’s development.
Memorizing scripture is a very good habit. It helps you to avoid temptations. In the Bible, it says “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” If we memorize this verse, then when we are tempted, these words will be in our hearts. And His Word will help us resist temptation.
You see, when we read the Bible, God gives us the power to live how He wants us to! When we read scripture and study it, we are more likely to do what is right. We will be careful to obey God’s word.
God’s word renews our mind and helps us better understand what God wants. It tells us to not be like this world, but to be transformed in our minds. This will help you know what God really wants for you.
In Romans 12:2 the Bible says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to discern what is the good, pleasing and perfect will of God.”
And finally, it’s hard to share our faith with others if we are not sure what we believe. Memorizing scripture gives us the confidence and understanding that we need to be able to share our faith and give testimony to unbelievers.
The Bible tells us to always be prepared to answer any questions people ask about our faith. When you share your faith with other people, or share scripture with folks who need encouragement, it’s such a blessing! And it’s made so easier when we have hidden God’s word in our hearts!!
