Tidbits from My Week | April 2018

This week got off to a good start. Of course, Sunday was Easter and we really enjoyed spending the day together with family. Kids are so much fun. I love kids so much! When I called all of the grand kids and my youngest daughters, Hannah and Laura over to take some group photos, we started out telling the kids to smile. They did such a good job with smiling sweetly! And then the fun part – I told them to make silly faces!!

Silly faces are so fun and make for great memories in your photo album. The kids all looked so genuinely happy and that made me happy.

Monday morning I got a new iPhone X and absolutely love it so far. The camera on it is amazing. I’ve ordered this case from Amazon and it should arrive at my house tomorrow. I’m terrified of breaking this phone. Ask my kids how many times I’ve said that in the last 24 hours! But it was super exciting to get this phone. I’ve had my old iPhone for almost three years now and it was time for an upgrade. What was really great was that AT&T was offering a free iPhone 8 if you added another line and we had been talking about finally letting my 17 year old get a phone so we took the free iPhone 8 and she got her own cell phone.

I wore this outfit – something I would not ordinarily wear – okay I probably never would have picked this out if I hadn’t been encouraged to try new things out of my comfort zone with the Style Challenges at Get Your Pretty On. And you know what? I really like it!

After that we drove to Virginia to the stables where we keep our horses and stood there with the horses waiting for our turn with the farrier to get their hooves trimmed. My feet were so sore and Laura’s too when we were done!

On Monday evening, my daughter Sarah called to tell me that her new husband was offered a job in Chattanooga, Tennessee! I am beyond excited about it. They’ve been living on Lake Huron way up in Michigan since they got married in September!

We spend several days a week in Knoxville and Chattanooga is only an hour and a half from Knoxville. They’ll move in a couple of weeks so he can start his new job. I’m so excited to have her close to home again! Plus, my other daughter Emily and my son, James, and his wife Hannah Claire all live in the Chattanooga area. How perfect is that?

Today {Tuesday} my 17 year old daughter Hannah tested her Dane 3, Rhythm and Blues program for figure skating and did such a great job. Her posture and extension is always lovely and with each passing week her skills improve so much.

So, that’s been my week so far. As a side note, Last week I found a lump in my breast and went to the doctor the next day. They did a thorough diagnostic mammogram and an ultrasound. Since my mom has breast cancer they put a rush on the results and I the doctor called me back on Friday morning.

She said that the report was very straightforward, ie. solid mass, left breast, etc. and did not indicate whether or not it could potentially be cancer. She recommended a breast biopsy and made an appointment for me in Knoxville. I’m having the breast biopsy done on Thursday morning at 10:30. If you’d like to say a prayer for me, I would appreciate it.

I do want to say, I fully expect them to find the mass to be non-cancerous. But, of course, it’s so important that we take care of our bodies and regularly check for lumps and catch cancer early! My mom finished up her last treatment today and I hope and pray she will be cancer free for good. We were so lucky she caught the cancer early as she had a rare, very aggressive for of breast cancer.

I’m just so grateful for my mom and for all of my precious family. I hope you’ve had a good week too!
